31 days with summer

Oopsie, so freaking long since my last writing. Well, i had too much fun and lured by procrastination ...teeehheee XP

Like any other summer days we treasure everyday and play to the max! Hike, sun bath, walk Wyatt the dog, motorboat picnics, drink-drank-not drunk yet and any creative crazy stuff that we can think of in our check list. ME LOVE LIFE!!!!

Today we went to town in shutter for some shopping chores. A chatter-box guy came on board, on his way to hiking trail. I felt annoyed by the long windered stories he spill for the freaking 30 mins. However, i somehow stop reading and listen to him when he said this: Well, after June, it seems that summer pass so fast. We are in mid-aug now.

It struck me. ME LOVE LIFE shattered. ME GO HOME reasoned.

Last night while chatting with mum, i asked: Time seem to pass so fast here. Do time pass that fast at home too??

Summer is fun, different and so many freaking weird, happy, annoying stuff could happened in such short 4-month period. Its amazing! I truly treasure this summer. Well, at least i could say to myself the next 'summer'- Malaysia doesn't have summer anyway : I know what you did last summer!

Sleep off. Have to wake up at freaking 3am for meteor shower in freaking freezing temperature. FYI, August is the season when meteor shower is most active.

Ciao, XOXO

Squishy drama queens

If you thought working in National Park is easy job, well i can tell u it's not. Besides trying to preserve the place which is of course the motto, i encounter dramas like all the time. Especially having squishy drama queens living in my sections. A friend of mine would describe them as the 'rats that climb trees' . Yeap, they are the squishy squirrels. Notty and cheeky ones.

I have no idea squirrels favor mops??!! WTH. They would just stalked the housekeepers and play some hike and seek with u before hoping into the cart and chew off the mop. Is this a squishy revenge for not leaving the trash for them or what?

Yesterday, i was working with a partner and we left my 212 cabin open for a bit so we could move in clean linens. God know when a squirrel sneak in when we were not looking. So there it was in the middle of the room chewing the carpet with its eye opened big, seriously like its gonna pop out when it saw us staring stunt from the doorway. Then, dramatically it started to find its way out. Not forgetting in the last post i have mentioned that 212 have the huge glass window structure, yes, squishy thought they are opened, so it goes banging itself into the glass several times struggling so hard to figure that its not open-able. Here it goes for 3 mins it does that. I hope the squirrel would understand me when i kept telling it where the exit was. When it finally escaped, we feel pity for the bumps on its head but can't help ourselves laughing non stop.

Well, other housekeeper encounter different drama with squishy when she would have to squishy-ly chase a squirrel down the hill with a broom when the squishy cheeky thing ran away with a tissue roll. We hope it doesn't choked on that.

Anyways, squishy are still adorable. Like REALLY adorable despite their notty-ness. Well, bits of drama would make our dry-hardworked housekeeping days alive, i think.

O, dear! Yes, this one have been hanging outs like nobody business in my section since last week. Hey, babe, u'r in my business seriously but i don't mind if u accompany me working :3

Guest of 212

Housekeeping is definitely xhausted. And i hate it when i have to end my work everyday with my sore back. But sometimes i do enjoy the work. Not when i met dirty nasty guests. Definitely when i make tips XP

At times i enjoy observing guests. Like their lifestyle, personality....though i doesn't get to meet all the guests all the time, but i can tell through what time they wake up, did they snore- if i saw any Breath Right strips, whether if they make the beds, how the arrangement of their belongings....then i create stories out of all these people. Oh well, that's some fun i created out of exhaustion.

Last week, i have a couple of guest staying in one of my best cabin. Non of the cabins here are identical. As these ancestor old cabins are taken from different places and place in Colter Bay. This room 212 have the big glass window in front of the room. My fav cabin. I met this English couple from Seattle one morning when they bugged into the room while i was making beds. They greeted me politely. This is why i love people here! We start chatting and they realized that i'm from Malaysia. Surprisingly they know where Malaysia is. In fact one of them share with me how much he loves Malaysia. He stays in Singapore for close to 2 years and been traveling up and down Peninsular Malaysia very often.

Out of sudden,
Him: " Do you know Tanjung Malim?" - i doubt all Malaysians know where it is located.
Me: "Yup, my sis just graduated from a government college nearby that place."
Him: "Ohhh...i spent a night in Tajung Malim police station on 13th May 1969. There was the riot and i was a coward...."
Me : *thinking*........eerrrrrr............that's was like .....HOW MANY YEARS BACK?!!!!

Cute guests encounter. The next day before he leaves, he asked me for a moment. He handed 4 dollar to me and said : "That's the only small changes i have.Put them into your vacation."

Owwwwhhhhh....ok, it's not because he gave me tips. Well, you see i got as much as 20 bucks for a check out room. It was so so so sweet for him to do that. I accept the tips gratefully.

You like him? I do. One of my best guest. And he left a book for me too. Seems like someone have to start reading.

Gone reading,
XOXO

Pi Poo Pi Poo

Finally, we are getting Wifi in the room, slow but workable. I doesn't ask for much as long as i can FB and blog. Apologize for missing in action for some time as i tried to fix the previous blog and finally gave up to blogspot.

What can i say, 5th day of summer! And i finally sweat. The weather is colder in the morning and getting warmer in the afternoon. But temperature seems to decrease very fast when the sun set. I was told that we will be getting lesser sunlight as compare to when we just arrived here. Which also means my play time will be getting shorter. Me very de don't like that!!!!

Today after work, we drove in Bruce's SUV loitering around wild life hunting again. We did that almost every week. As recent we get to see bears. There is a mama grizzly bear tagged as 399 with her 3 cubs loitering in our area. Well, bears don't get named here, cos people figure that tagging them with number will be easier to recognize them. I heard that a bear will be tagged twice if they are notty and when it gets the third ticket, he will get a compliment helicopter ride to somewhere further into the woods. While elk, moose and bisons are so common here like kambing, kuching and anjing on roadside.

Getting bored of wild life hunting, we then went up to Signal mountain for sunset. It's speechlessly marvelous. Picture can't even speak the thousand words.

Gonna doz off . Tomorrow's another hectic day T.T Talking about works, i have a few cute guests encounter. Maybe i will do it the following blog.

Nomad

Wokay, that's it!!! I was having problem loading pics to my blog.com's blog. No way to fix it, neither know what's the problem. Therefore, i am nomad-ing all my blogs to blogspot. Guess i will stick to this :)

We are in the third day of SUMMER!!! Guess i will be having some sun tanning this summer :) Sun is brightly shine, however the weather is very unpredictable. It could be pouring at this moment and sunny the next. Gosh.

Tomorrow is my day-off, hopefully we will have better connection here and i could do more updates here.

96 days with summer

We have not been able to connect to the wifi from the room due to the explosive amount of employees that have been registered into the village. Well, we are getting merrier over here! It’s a good sign of summer thou.

Wokay, where should I start with?! Today is my day-off. I getting day-off on Friday. Just 1 day. Which is why we always plan it properly to get an intense day-off. Last Friday, we gone visiting Teton Village which is probably a few miles from CBV (Colter Bay Village). They have a tram there where you could take a ride up to the top of snowy mountain-obviously I forget the name of the mountain. It is still winter up there. The snow will always be there anyway. Some ski and snow boarding activities is still very happening up there. Teton village has been always famous for as ski village. Its not a big village, as least it is not as big as Jackson. We got down on the top of the mountain for some hike. Too bad, my fingers starts freezing and was getting snow bite slowly that we decide, probably our attire wasn’t warm enough for us to continue hiking. Therefore, down we go. Teton village is definitely an awesome and peaceful place if you are planning for any ski holidays.

Yesterday we were down by the lakeside again with one of our hiking-lover friend, Bruce Wayne is his name, not the batman Bruce thou. Too bad.

Always after off from work, I would whine how tired I was, however, a walk at the lake, is totally the cure for my tiredness.

Also, due to the hike, this morning, we got up with severe muscle soreness. Therefore, a random decision was made, which is to sleep in until 10am. Unlike last few day-off, we did our day-off randomly. We bumped into several friends from the Marina Bay, they asked us for canoe trip. So here we go, canoe under sunny summer day. SUPERB!!! We were out on the magnificent lake for 2 hours. And after dinner, we went out for a scenic float trip down the Snake River. Its cold and freezing due to the wind. And a tiny bit of disappointment, as we were expecting for more, I mean MORE wild life activities along the river. We saw furry beavers, a few bald eagles, bisons and….i think that’s all. I need BEAR! There were a mother bear with 3 cubs passing by our village. Unfortunately I was too busy housekeeping. Again, too bad.

Summer is approaching GT and flowers blooming, birdies are back, tiny minie green grass growing.

Buoy buoy :)

XOXO

Stary stary night, patrick says good night

am suppose to sleep at 10pm so that i could wake up at 5am for animal hunting along the trail down by the lakeside. Anyway it's 11.45pm now and i have just came back from hanging-outs at friends' room. Seems like i have been ridiculously missing in action for a short period. Well, i'm all exhausted each and everyday after work .....or i have been busy having my pool lesson in the lounge XP I have cute Bulgarian teacher though, with greyish blue eye. Love them! I wish i have a pair of them.

Occupancy in the lodge is reaching 60% nowadays, but will hike up to 98% starting next week. CRAZY! I have just realized how capable i am to run all over my section, grabbing linens and towels, and not to mentioned, i am all by myself to set up a total of 10 mix check-outs and stay over rooms. My section is 80% occupancy of today. I get tips sometimes......eerm... like a couple of times only.I'm totally glad if they would give more~

I am glad i have my day off tomorrow. Manana delibre (tomorrow off-day) !!!! O ya, i am trying to learn some Spanish here. We have Mexicans and i realized most Americans speaks Spanish too. So why not me :)

Talking bout off day. Hmm....who's gonna take care of my rooms and take my tips :( I'm just loyal to my guests. Well, i did learn a lesson here. Treat clientele truthfully whole heartedly. People loves to be treated that way.

I'mma going for a float trip down the Snake River 8am tomorrow. It's time to get wet and cold.

Adios, xoxo.

Work hard, play harder ;)

I wrote a whole post last night with my mind 99% shut down and snores. I realized in the end the whole post make 0 sense. No sense at all.

Any updates? yup! Today is the opening day for Colter Bay Lodge. We were like machines cleaning and touch up rooms to rooms, up and down the hil, at our up most speed, just to provide guest the best out of the best. I mop the floor like flawless and shinning. Wooooahhh. But i am all tired and exhausted again :) but with a smile. From my heart, i felt satisfied. Yes, the best for the guest. Well, at least that's my responsibilities for now on.

I admit that, the 1st day doing all this housekeeping isn't a great day for me. At times, when you realized how many times you should fold the towelssssss or do the bedssssss or clean toiletssssss, i kept thinking how the hell on earth i end up here. I leave my stable and well paid job for this 8 dollar per hour housekeeping. While what i used to do was sitting on my comfortable seat, in front of my Mac, with air con.

But i suppose working around them worth everyday's hard work.

p/s: It's snowing whole day. Hope i could capture a nice timelapse.

XOXO pool date with mexican friend :)

Malaysian Rocksssssss

All this while i have been wrongly pronounce my workplace as Grand 'T-a-t-en'. As the matter of fact, it should be pronounced as Grand 'T-i-t-on'. Keep that in mind.

We have been relocated to Colter Bay Lodge from Jackson Lake Lodge! Ok~ i desperately missed my cool buddies there. I misses Whistle Pig- employee lounge in Jackson which serve beer and have pool table. And of course i misses the employee village over there. It's more happening there thou. However, i made more new buddies here. Plus, Colter Bay is nearer to all the activities location, such as Marina Bay- they have canoe and some water activities. In fact, i have been having evening walk through the Lakeshore Trail circling the shoreline of Colter Bay. I only managed to do it halfway, due to the heavy snow covered path. My 'day hike brochure' tells me i need to 'follow the forested peninsula jutting into Jackson Lake, providing the view of the Teton Range.' * bla bla*

Halfway view ain't that bad afterall. Trying to get the vid upload, "TRYING". Pls be patience.

Work wise....ok, everyone knows how's work is like. So, you know~.

Housekeeping ain't easy at all, i meant it, AT ALL. I never work in hotel nor resorts, so don't even mention about housekeeping, i ain't know a thing. But no worries. Malaysians ROCKSSSSS!!! Overcome the 1st day struggles, we, the Malaysian team finished up to 20 rooms in 8 hours today, despite the sore back and shoulders. 1st time in my life, i feel appreciate and proud to all housekeepers in the world. Serious, the bed is heavy. For a nicely made bed you need mattress pad, then 2 layers of linen, 2 layers of thick blanket, wrap nicely and tight on the mattress. Then the comforter, and 2 pillows for deluxe bed, nicely folded at the end of the bed covered nicely with comforter. Realized how many "NICELY" word that i have used. All because your guest pay and tip you.

Though this week, we are in the phase of preparing the rooms for the opening of the lodge, on 26th May. Do not want to think about the opening. DO NOT.

Another 3 member from Malaysia join us yesterday.

Tomorrow we are joining a few friends to Jackson town. It spells 'OFF DAY' !

Sign out for movie therapy.

XOXO

I am from M-A-L-A-Y-S-I-A

It's easy to introduce my name as it's a common name in States, but not my origin country.

"Are you from China?" People just keep mistaken me from China. It's not totally wrong thou. Yes, i flew from Beijing to the States. And my ancestors are from China too.

"No, I'm from M-a-l-a-y-s-i-a." Soon after my answer, i often get the eye brow lifting and eyes rolling to the right *thinking hard* facial expression.

"Ok, it a country above Singapore, below Thai"

"Oooooooo......ok~" I think you don't get it. Anyways.

It's hard to go around explaining where i'm from. But i am still making lotsa coolest friends in the world.

And often, for those who are familiar with MALAYSIA, they are curious that we speak fluent English. Some thought Asian speaks Korean only. Weird hmm. Today, a group of Jamaican colleagues stare at my friend when we mingle. Curiously she ask them why do they do that. "We likes to see you guys talking. You speak fluent English!" * felt so proud*

Well, next time when you are aboard and people stare at you when you speaks, i suppose they are just amazed at your fluency in English.

Sign off to paralyzed. *zzzzzzzzzz*

twee-tu-wand is the third day

Reporting from Grand Teton, Wyoming. The weather is clear and sunny with temperature 10'c . It's a great day to have snow fight.

The weather forecast said it's gonna snow this few days. Unfortunately, vice versa. Few feet high of snow starts to melt thou. The trees and undergrowth sway away to greet the wind bringing the wonderful summer news. However, the wind are cruel and chilly. Thick winter clothing is good to protect us from it, however, my face always become the victim of the wind. My eye and nose sore of dryness. I wish i have face mask.

Like this?

This is taken from Jackson Lake Lodge lobby. This is the iconic mt' stretch of the national park. It looks fake ain't it? Yes, even thou seeing it with our own eye, we thought that might be just wallpaper. I took some video, hopefully i will be able to edit it and share it here. They are magnificent beyond description. I hope you were here.

Don't even mention about the Jacksonhole town. Looking at those cowboy-like architectures, i thought those are just toy houses plant there just to play its role, like something in the 'Truman Show" movie. Didn't get to take pics, maybe will get some the next time.

Status: Me and my travel buddies are being allocated in Jackson Lake Lodge temporarily until our assigned resort, Colter Bay is ready, despite the recent freshly found bear trail in the resort :P Everything is wonderful so far. The place, people, the food. Our dorm is located in the employees village. It's a small neighborhood here. You says hello and start making friends even when you are walking down the street. I just love it.

Signing off with loads of XOXO

I am still leaping and alive! But then we discovered that i am infected by jet-lag. I start to get sleepy and fall asleep in the noon during our trip down to Jacksonhole town. Then during dinner my brain gone 90% shutdown. But i shouldn't sleep at 7pm which will make it worst.

The best medication. Haagen Dazs + Hershey's choc.

By the time i reached dorm, i was no longer sleepy but freeze and numb.

It's good to do something insane once a while to keep myself sane though X> weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Any suggestion what else i can do to keep myself sane?

Ciao for now, need to do mask. The weather is making my skin crazy!

XOXO

PPS

The clock spells 1.14am.

Am having the "me-time" after the tiring packing.

I need to wake up at 5am and i'm having PPS (Post-Packing-Syndrome). It says headache and emotion-less and speechless and whatever which spells "less". Am sipping a shot of Redoxon to avoid me from more headaches and whatever-less attack.

I wonder how does other travelers feel during their eves of flying off for adventures? Will it be similar as what i'm feeling now or ...... *whatever*

Dad is snoring so loud, i should pinch him and doze off myself.

Shall report myself after the Beijing tour.

XOXO

Luggage spices

I wrote a whole chunk of my packing story and i decided to make it short del it.

The truth is i have not start the real packing yet and am undergoing some sort of PDS (Pre-Departure-Syndrome). Mixed feelings of over excited and start missing everything is too overwhelming.

13th May Beijing-San Francisco

13th May SF-Denver-Jacksonhole

Finally.Arrived.

Oh, that will happen in 4 days.

Signing off.
